Week 28 Update! The Third Trimester Has Begun!

We have officially hit the third trimester! 12 more weeks to go!! I had my doctor's appointment today where I was tested for gestational diabetes. I got to drink this lovely "fruit punch" looking juice which tasted like an overly sugared popsicle. I won't get the results for a few more days but if it comes back positive they're going to want to retest me again just to make sure the results are accurate. Hopefully if that is the case I will be able to swig down another lovely tasting juice!

Adam and I have signed up for our first birthing classes. We are doing a 5 week class beginning July 26. Each session is about two hours long. We are looking forward to this and I am especially excited to see Adam put on the sympathy belly! :)

Baby Baird has been especially active lately. His kicks are getting stronger each day! Looks like Adam and I are going to have an active little bugger on our hands! While our doctor was checking his heart beat today, Baby Baird decided to kick the heart monitor probe. Guess he didn't like being poked too much! :)

Adam and I have been discussing our birth plan and as I'm sure most of you know, I will be getting an epidural. I do not handle pain well and I do not see anything wrong with getting a little help for the pain. For the most part we will play it by ear. We obviously can't predict what's going to happen during labor but I'm hoping in the end I won't be in labor for 20 hours! Unless it is absolutely necessary, I do not want a C-section. I understand that I might not have control over this but unless it's a medical emergency I would prefer to do it the old fashioned way!

According to our books, Baby Baird weighs roughly 2lbs. 5oz. He is now able to blink, cough, hiccup and take practice breaths.

Adam and I appreciate everyone's love and support so far! We are very excited and eager to see what happens in the next 12 weeks!

Week 25 Update!

Everything is going well with us and our son is right on track weight and development wise! Everyday brings more excitement and anticipation into our lives about having our first child. We're getting ready to move either at the beginning or end of July into a two bedroom apartment in our same complex. This will give us much more space and a baby room!!! Megan has already envisioned it and we can not wait to get to workin' on it!

We have been reading books like crazy and are learning more and more everyday and are excited for the joy, happiness, and challenges that are ahead of us. Of course every parent wants to be the perfect parent - sadly there are none. We are just learning as much as we can about what we can do to be near perfect and give our son the best life and opportunities that we can provide for him. It's great seeing Megan grow everyday! She is maturing and progressing in every way imaginable! Her motherly instinct are growing day by day and it seems as if they just come to her like baby Baird is telling her the stuff she needs to prepare for. Her kindness and big heart are just soooo cute! She cares so much for everyone and everything! We hit a lightning bug on the highway the other night and she felt so bad about it and I can't imagine how those feelings are going to translate to our baby boy!

Fun facts of the week:
-Pound for pound babies and toddlers are stronger than oxen! Move over Manny Pacquiao (he's the pound for pound world boxing champ)
-We did not believe this fact at all, but we researched it and it's in the Guinness book so we figured it's true... The wife of Feodor Vassilyev, nobody knows her name oddly enough, gave birth to 69 children!!! 16 set of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 set of quadruplets! This was in the 1700's and is just down right baffling, we'd like to see Kate + 69!
